I went to Woolworks on Falls Road a couple of weekends ago because their e-mail newsletter advertised a great sale. I ended up not buying any of the regular merchandise that was discounted for the special sale, but raided the clearance yarn. I found 13 skeins of Berroco Weekend Chunky yarn in the pebble colorway. At $3.75 a skein, it was just about half off. It’s not as though I needed more yarn, but you can never have too much. After all, I have yet to reach the point of SABLE (stash acquisition beyond life expectancy).
Each hank has 119 yards so I’ve got a total 1,547 yards. This is a bulky yarn that recommends uses a US 10 1/2 or 6.5 mm needle, so my 1,500 yards means there are a ton of project options.
I think I would like to use the yarn for a cardigan to wear to work during the summer, when I don’t have a lot of meetings that require suits but do need layers that look reasonably professional to wear in the excessively air conditioned buildings. I’ve done an advanced search on Ravelry and love the Spindrift sweater by Cecily Glowik McDonald (Ravelry and blog links). Of course, I could also make a fun non-work hoodie like the Hooded Sweater with Lace Pattern from the Rebecca Design Team (Ravelry). And since I’m in the middle of eight different projects, I have plenty of time to decide what to do with the yarn because it’s not like I’m going to have time to cast-on this month!
